Families of the murdered Ahmići residents outraged: Illegal construction of a memorial to victims of Croatian nationality has begun

SARAJevo, (Patria) - The association of citizens victims of the war '92-95. "16. April" Ahmići warns that the illegal construction of a memorial to victims of Croatian nationality has begun in the village of Buhine Kuće, near Vitez, without permits issued by municipal and federal authorities competent to rule on this matter.

"We expect the competent services to take legally defined and prescribed measures to stop the usurpation of power by individuals or groups, which would further complicate neighborly relations.

As families of the murdered Ahmići residents, we rightly ask ourselves whether the positioning of such a large number of memorials in the village of Ahmići on the main road is an attempt to equate the massacre committed in Ahmići, which was ruled in The Hague as a joint criminal enterprise, with the victims who perished during military operations between military formations on the front lines of combat.

While respecting every innocent murdered victim, we are obliged to respect the laws of this country, to respect the legally prescribed procedures for construction, especially for facilities that provoke the feelings of the victims on the other side," the Association stated.

If the illegal construction of the memorial continues in the coming period in the area of the municipality of Vitez without permits issued by the competent municipal and federal authorities, the association of citizens victims of the war '92-95. "16. April" Ahmići announces the construction of a memorial along the main road, in the area of the local community of Ahmići.
