Memić Family Organises Peaceful Protests on 8 April: We Want the Truth About Our Dženan's Murder

The family of Dženan Memić (22), who died on 15 February 2016 from severe injuries sustained on 8 February while walking with his girlfriend on Velika aleja under still unexplained circumstances, will organise peaceful protests on 8 April to express dissatisfaction with the progress of the investigation opened by the Sarajevo Canton Prosecutor's Office on 9 March 2016, reports the Bosnian news agency Patria.

All those who wish to support the family of this tragically deceased young man should gather in front of SCC at 9:30, after which a peaceful march will proceed towards the building of the Sarajevo Canton Prosecutor's Office.

The family of Dženan Memić asks all protest participants to respect their pain and loss by adhering to the rules of maintaining public order and peace.

- The goal is to inform the Prosecutor's Office and the public that we will not give up on justice and truth, and that we will persist in the fight to punish all those responsible for our Dženan's premature departure from this world - stated in the Facebook group Justice for Dženan Memić.

The protest has been duly reported to the Sarajevo Canton Ministry of Interior.

We remind that the Sarajevo Canton Prosecutor's Office opened an investigation against an unknown perpetrator for the criminal act of murder, but to this day the circumstances under which this young man sustained life-threatening injuries remain unknown.

The only witness is his girlfriend Alisa Mutap, who also sustained injuries. Although initially it was said to be a traffic accident, news soon spread that the young man was beaten and suffered a blow from which he died.

The motives for this heinous crime are unknown, and during the investigation several persons were brought in who were released after questioning. The Sarajevo Canton Ministry of Interior and the Sarajevo Canton Prosecutor's Office are working to shed light on this criminal act.
