Memic family asks Prime Minister Zolj to allow new protests despite calls for a ban

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The father of murdered youth Dzenan Memic, Muriz Memic, met with Sarajevo Canton Prime Minister Adem Zolj on Friday, April 13, to discuss the murder case of his son.

Memic told the Patria agency that he expects the support of the Sarajevo Canton Prime Minister and that he told him so. The Memic family plans to organize new protests, and according to the information they have, there have been requests not to approve a new gathering.

- I told him that I expect him, in accordance with the law and his position, to provide the necessary approvals for the protests - Memic said, without specifying the date of the protests.

Memic also discussed with Prime Minister Zolj the dismissal of Elvedin Okeric from the head of the Security Commission. Memic believes that it was precisely the efforts of this commission that led to the formation of an ad hoc body that established significant facts regarding the murder of his son.

Memic told Prime Minister Zolj that he will not give up his fight until Dzenan's murder is resolved. He asked Zolj not to prevent protests or to allow politics to interfere in this case, which has been unresolved for more than two years.

The last protests were held on February 8, 2018, on the second anniversary of the events in Velika aleja, where Dzenan sustained injuries under still unclarified circumstances, from which he died on February 15, 2016.
