Popović: Russia saved us from being forever branded as a genocidal nation

Nenad Popović is the president of the Serbian People's Party, a year-old party. He is also in private business. What he says about Bosnia and Herzegovina is interesting, reports the Patria News Agency.    

-We have no greater friend than Russia. They are there when times are toughest, and it is incredible that in such a cruel world of naked interests, Russia vetoed the British proposal for a resolution on Serbia as a genocidal nation in the Security Council. Had that resolution been adopted in the United Nations, Serbs would have been forever branded as a genocidal nation, says Popović.  

Vladimir Putin saved us from eternal shame orchestrated by our so-called Western friends, and he asked for nothing in return. When the fake state of Kosovo was about to join UNESCO, even our closest neighbors betrayed us. Talking about the EU countries' vote is superfluous. But it was Russia that prevented Kosovo's admission to UNESCO.

How does the EU behave towards Serbia? They demanded the extradition of Serbian generals to The Hague, then they demanded the "normalization" of relations between Serbia and the fake state of Kosovo, they demanded that the authorities organize a gay pride parade, now they demand that Serbia develop "asylum mechanisms" for migrants to settle in Serbia. This conditioning is endless.

Two chapters have been opened in the negotiations, and our authorities are celebrating as if we had become world champions in football. And while they celebrate, they hide from the people that the first and only condition for Serbia's full membership in the EU is to give up Kosovo, which is absolutely unacceptable.

On the other hand, Russia provides us with support in international institutions, offers us economic and military cooperation, and sets no conditions. Today's world is not what it was 10 or 20 years ago. Russia is now a global power, and Serbia should not hesitate in this cooperation. And imagine, it doesn't even have to lobby, it doesn't even have to beg, it is enough to be what it is, and it will have Russia by its side.

... We must protect our Kosovo, our Republika Srpska, our Serbian people in Montenegro and Croatia; our interests must come before the interests of the European Union, Popović stated, Serbian media report.
