Tuzla kvarc workers climb silo, threaten suicide

15:00

After a meeting with Minister Mićanović, one of the Tuzla kvarc workers climbed the silo again and joined his three colleagues. The situation with the concession has not yet been resolved, but a strategic partner has been found who would settle the debts.

13:45

Tuzla kvarc Director Smajil Velagić and one of the workers have descended from the silo for negotiations with Minister Srđan Mićanović, while three workers remain on the silo and are threatening suicide.

13:30

Minister of Energy, Mining and Industry of TK Srđan Mićanović is negotiating with Tuzla kvarc workers, asking them to come down so he can talk to the director and the workers. TK Prime Minister Bego Gutić continues to avoid appearing before the workers, reports COD Luna.

The desperate workers will be visited during the day by the Mayor of Tuzla, Jasmin Imamović.

11:25  As COD Luna has learned, the stance of the TK Government regarding the miners' threat to commit suicide by jumping from the silo is that it does not concern them!

Corruption in the TK Government has triggered a series of events and problems that have led to this catastrophic situation where miners, after 18 days of hunger strike, are now threatening to commit suicide by jumping from the silo. We remind you that the company director, Smajil Velagić, also climbed the silo. He is asking the workers to abandon their intentions that could lead to tragedy.

One worker attempted to jump, but his colleagues prevented him.

9:00 Miners of Kvarc-Tuzla, who have been on a hunger strike for 18 days due to corruption in the TK Government, and who, out of despair, dug graves within the factory premises, which the TK Government Prime Minister Bego Gutić arrogantly characterized as a performance, have climbed the silo and are threatening to jump, reports the Patria News Agency.

One worker slipped and almost fell to his certain death. Police, firefighters, and ambulance services are on the scene, but no one from the TK Government.

- We once again call on Prime Minister Bego Gutić to visit the miners and discuss the issue of the concession and the problem of corruption in the TK Government - appealed COD Luna Advisory Center for Whistleblowers.
