Monday the warmest day in the world since measurements began

(Patria) - The average global temperature reached a new maximum on Monday, July 3, and exceeded 17 degrees Celsius for the first time, the BBC reported.

American researchers stated that the new record is the highest when compared to any measurement scale conducted since the end of the 19th century.

Scientists believe the heat is caused by a combination of the natural weather phenomenon known as El Nino and carbon dioxide emissions.

It has also been confirmed that last month was the warmest June on record globally.

Scientists from the American National Center for Environmental Prediction said that on July 3, the average global temperature reached 17.01 degrees Celsius, breaking the previous record of 16.92 Celsius from August 2016.

Scientists are concerned about the rise in land and sea temperatures since the beginning of this year.

Record spring heat in Spain and many Asian countries has been accompanied by marine heatwaves in areas where they are not usually present, such as the North Sea.

In China, the prolonged heatwave continued this week with temperatures in some places exceeding 35 degrees Celsius, while the southern United States experienced stifling conditions.

The temperature value measured on Monday is the highest since satellite monitoring began in 1979.

Experts believe this is the highest temperature measured since widespread instrumental measurements began at the end of the 19th century, Hina reports.
