Tourists explore Bosnian cuisine in Old Town restaurants with an app

The Municipality of Stari Grad hosted the promotion of the first "Online Traditional Chef of Sarajevo's Baščaršija", realized in cooperation with the sister Municipality of Mamak from the Republic of Turkey, which allocated 10,000 KM for the development of a modern application, reports the BH News Agency Patria.

The Online Chef promotes traditional Old Town cuisine in an innovative way, via a smartphone application designed for Android and iPhone platforms. This will also facilitate access for tourists visiting this Sarajevo municipality to restaurants offering traditional savory and sweet Bosnian dishes, as well as homemade juices.

Mayor Ibrahim Hadžibajrić emphasized that the application was created in three languages: Bosnian, Turkish, and English.

- We want to introduce tourists to our traditional dishes, which are influenced by Eastern cuisine, and we have also displayed a map of restaurants in Stari Grad included in our project, with the possibility of expanding it to others and eventually to all of Sarajevo.

The Cultural Attaché of the Turkish Embassy in BiH, Şener Şahin, congratulated Mayor Hadžibajrić on this project.

- As a Turk and someone who lives and works in Baščaršija, I have had the opportunity to taste all these dishes. Bosnian cuisine is a rich cuisine. Many tourists from Turkey visit our office to get information, and I am glad to direct them to this guide. Reviving traditional cuisine is an important step for a nation - said Şahin.

Elvir Salčinović, director of BetaTel Studio, the company that developed the application, said that Bosnian cuisine is presented in a modern way and that the application also includes recipes for about twenty dishes.

- The application can be upgraded not only in terms of the chef but also for the overall promotion of tourism focused on the Municipality of Stari Grad - said Salčinović.

Stickers with codes for the application "Online Traditional Chef of Sarajevo's Baščaršija" are located in the Info-press center in Halači, as well as at the following establishments: Aščinica Stari Grad, ASDž and Hadžibajrić, Nanina kuhinja; Buregdžinice Bosna and Sač; Ćevabdžinice Ferhatović, Mrkva, Hodžić, Željo and Specijal; Restaurants Pod lipom, Dveri, Morića Han, Inat kuća, Nova Bentbaša, Bosanska kuća and Staklo; Pastry shops Saray, Cream Shop, Kuća sevdaha, Ramis and Baklava Shop.
