NATO Assistant Secretary General: Our goal is a secure and stable Balkans for all

(Patria) - Deputy Ministers of Defense of BiH for Policy and Plans Slaven Galić and Resource Management Aleksandar Goganović, with associates, received today the Assistant Secretary General of NATO for Intelligence and Security Scott W. Brayon.

During the meeting, the interlocutors discussed BiH's path to NATO and the European Union, the security situation in our country, the state of the world and the Balkans, as well as other topics.

Galić expressed special gratitude for the support that NATO provides to Bosnia and Herzegovina through the Defense Capacity Building (DCB) project.

In the context of current conflicts in the world, he emphasized that Bosnia and Herzegovina would "respond to security challenges much more easily under the umbrella of the European Union and the NATO alliance".

He expressed hope that Bosnia and Herzegovina will become a member of both the European Union and NATO, which would certainly contribute to the economic development and prosperity of the country.

Brayon said that this is his first visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region.

He emphasized that NATO is committed to Bosnia and Herzegovina and supports the efforts it is making on the path of European and Euro-Atlantic integration, and stated that every country has the right to choose its security path, without external influences.

- I want us to cooperate more closely when it comes to Euro-Atlantic integration. I want our security services to have close cooperation. A good security situation ensures economic development and contributes to the prosperity of the country. Our goal is a secure and stable Balkans for all - Brayon said.

Deputy Minister Goganović assessed that the cooperation between BiH and NATO is at a very high level, and that it is realized through many partnership programs.

He emphasized that the security situation in BiH is stable, and praised the cooperation with EUFOR, which has a mandate to assess the security situation in BiH.

- Bosnia and Herzegovina will always support peace, which is why BiH's path to the European Union must have no alternative - Goganović added.
