SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Council of Ministers of BiH, at the proposal of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations, adopted a Decision on opening temporary tariff quotas for the import of mineral fertilizers, as support for farmers due to disruptions in the global market supply and rising prices.
The Decision temporarily allows duty-free import of a total of 370,000 tons of mineral fertilizers classified under seven tariff codes, until the quantities prescribed by this decision are exhausted, but no later than December 31, 2023. At the same time, this decision establishes criteria for the application of temporary tariff quotas and the method of distribution.
According to this decision, the main criterion for duty-free import of mineral fertilizers is that the import is for the needs of agricultural producers in the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina as end-users.
The decision was made to ensure additional types and larger quantities of mineral fertilizers for farmers, which will enable the implementation of adequate agrotechnical measures, primarily the fertilization of cereals and other cultivated crops, and ensure sufficient quantities of these crops on the market, with good yield quality, thus contributing to reducing food shortages in BiH and mitigating price increases in the interest of citizens.
This ensures the continuity of relief for farmers, after the Council of Ministers of BiH enabled duty-free import of 100,000 tons of mineral fertilizer in March last year.
