Aid still not reaching Gaza, Israel continues attacks

(Patria) - Five trucks with medical supplies are ready and waiting at the border between Gaza and Egypt, the World Health Organization announced, welcoming Israel's announcement that it will not block the entry of aid convoys into the Palestinian territory.

"Our trucks are loaded and ready to go," WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus told a press conference.

He also said he hoped the supplies would be delivered as soon as the Rafah crossing opens, expressing hope that this would be tomorrow.

The aid delivery is expected to be the first after Israel threatened to impose a "complete blockade" on the narrow Gaza Strip, home to 2.3 million people, announcing a cut-off of electricity and threatening to halt the flow of food and fuel in response to Hamas's devastating attack on Israeli territory on October 7.

Meanwhile, heavy Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip have occurred, and the UN has warned of a "humanitarian catastrophe".

According to data from the Gaza Ministry of Health, 3,748 Palestinians have been killed and 12,065 injured in Israeli airstrikes. Among them are more than 1,000 children.
