President of Poland Karol Nawrocki attended the signing ceremony of the Committee's founding charter but refrained from signing, citing the need for Government approval.
Representatives of 19 countries signed the Peace Committee Charter on January 22 on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos.
The Committee was formed as part of efforts for a peaceful resolution of the situation in the Gaza Strip. Washington announced that additional countries have since joined the initiative.
The first meeting is scheduled for February 19 in Washington and is expected to be held at the level of leaders invited by the administration of US President Donald Trump.
The central theme of the gathering will be fundraising for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip.
