(Patria) - Poland is further strengthening its air defence on NATO's eastern flank.
Representatives of that country signed a contract with the Norwegian company Kongsberg Gruppen for a drone defence system worth slightly less than 1.7 billion euros.
The purchase is part of the "Eastern Shield" initiative and will be financed by European Union funds within the SAFE program.
- Securing the eastern border is crucial for the security of Poland and Europe. It is the responsibility of the entire Europe and NATO.
Poland bears the responsibility, costs, organisation - everything that is needed for the security of Poland's, Europe's, and NATO's eastern border - said Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk.
