(Patria) - The Polish Embassy in Minsk has called on its citizens to leave Belarus immediately using all available means, warning of the possibility of border closures and other “unforeseen circumstances”.
The appeal came just a day after the border was reopened, and Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk warned that it could be closed in case of escalation.
The deterioration of relations was contributed to by the arrest of Polish priest Grzegorz Gawel, who was accused by the Belarusian KGB of espionage during the "Zapad-2025" military exercises. Warsaw rejects these accusations as a provocation, and the Carmelite order called him a political prisoner.
The embassy warns that evacuation could become impossible if the situation further complicates, and recommends citizens leave via Lithuania, Latvia, or by flights from Minsk.
