SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Association of Farmers of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina has sent a request to the BiH Council of Ministers to resolve some of the problems these producers are facing.
Farmers warn that it is "high time for the ministers, led by the Prime Minister in the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, to start doing the job they were appointed for, and are well paid for. They emphasize that it is time to use the mechanisms at their disposal to protect domestic production and domestic producers.
The warning specifically refers to the Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations, according to the statement.
Farmers demand the urgent temporary ban on the export of domestic wheat, the urgent temporary ban on the import of watermelons and other agricultural crops that are currently sufficiently available from domestic producers, and the urgent resolution of unnecessary delays of trucks at the borders carrying "gherkin" cucumbers to European Union countries.
They point out that these delays lead to the spoilage of goods, which customers then return.
The situation is alarming, said the Association of Farmers of FBiH.
