Farmers block the Izačić Border Crossing

More than 200 farmers from Krajina with tractors are at the Izačić Border Crossing. Farmers are demanding payment of subsidies for 2014, 2015 and the first quarter of 2016, NAP reports.

Update 15:00 - Since 3:00 PM, the Izačić Border Crossing has been blocked.

Update 14:30 - The Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Water Management and Forestry today paid farmers an additional 2,861,536.94 BAM. These orders have been submitted to banks and should be processed by the end of the day.

The Ministry of Agriculture claims that the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, at a thematic session on the state of agriculture in the Federation, which will be scheduled in the coming days, will also consider ways to resolve the issue of debts from previous years.

Update 14:00 - Dževahir Babić from the Farmers' Association "Krajina" confirmed to NAP that more than 200 farmers will block the Izačić Border Crossing with tractors at 2:30 PM, unless the Federal Minister of Agriculture Šemsudin Dedić gives a written guarantee that the outstanding subsidies will be paid to farmers by June 30 at the latest.

Farmers are demanding payment of outstanding subsidies for 2014, 2015 and the first quarter of 2016. More than five million BAM was paid out yesterday in agricultural subsidies, but farmers are not satisfied.

More than 200 farmers from Krajina have been at the Izačić Border Crossing since yesterday. They also spent the night there. Until today, one lane of the Border Crossing was blocked. Farmers threaten to block the entire Border Crossing if they do not receive a written guarantee from Dedić that their subsidies will be paid within the next month, NAP writes.
