Political and Security Committee of the Council of the EU in Sarajevo: Meeting at the BiH Presidency, then with members of the Collegia of both Houses of the PS BiH

(Patria) - Members of the Political and Security Committee of the Council of the European Union will visit BiH on Monday, and will hold a meeting with members of the BiH Presidency, and then with members of the collegia of the House of Representatives and the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH.

The Political and Security Committee is responsible for the EU's Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP) and the Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP). The Committee monitors the international situation, recommends strategic approaches and policy options to the Council of the EU, provides guidance to the Military Committee, the Political-Military Group and the Crisis Management Procedures Committee, and ensures political oversight and strategic direction of crisis management operations.

The Political and Security Committee consists of the ambassadors of the member states in Brussels and is chaired by representatives of the European External Action Service.

Topics of discussion will certainly include the current political situation, the upcoming elections, and the continuation of the EUFOR Althea peacekeeping mission, whose mandate is renewed every year in November in the UN Security Council.

This will be an opportunity for members of the BiH Presidency Željko Komšić and Denis Bećirović, as well as members of the Collegia of both houses Denis Zvizdić and Kemal Ademović, to draw the PSC's attention to the deployment of members of the Serbian Army to BiH, which has caused negative reactions.

Members of the Serbian Army, including cadets and high-ranking officers, paraded through Prijedor and Bratunac, which was not announced to the official BiH authorities.

In a letter sent by the Embassy of Serbia to the BiH Ministry of Foreign Affairs on July 5, announcing the arrival of members of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Army, information about the number of persons entering BiH was omitted, which the MFA failed to request from the Serbian Embassy.

The MFA notified the BiH Border Police, and they entered BiH without the competent authorities knowing how many people were entering the country.

Numerous official reactions have expressed concern that the implementation of the conclusions from the Declaration adopted at the All-Serbian Assembly held in Belgrade on June 8 between Serbia and the entity of Republika Srpska has begun.
