Police ban all gatherings in Belgrade dedicated to Srebrenica

All gatherings scheduled for tomorrow in front of the National Assembly of Serbia in Belgrade have been banned, stated Minister of Internal Affairs Nebojša Stefanović, reports the BH News Agency Patria.

Stefanović told a press conference that the Ministry of Internal Affairs, after security and operational checks, decided to ban all gatherings scheduled for tomorrow in front of the parliament.

- I warn everyone who is thinking of coming anyway that the police will not allow or tolerate any gathering in front of the National Assembly of Serbia, nor the holding of banned rallies - Stefanović emphasized.

Stefanović explained that five gatherings were scheduled for tomorrow at different times, announced by Zavetnici, Dveri, the Youth Initiative for Human Rights, the Association of Families of Kidnapped and Murdered from 1998 to 2000, and a citizen named Nikola Aleksić.

Stefanović said that there were many irresponsible statements that were causing chaos, calling for intolerance and divisions, and that there were also many irresponsible people who were not interested in the security of Serbia and the interests of its citizens.

- The Ministry of Internal Affairs considers the safety of all citizens important, and we will not allow chaos on the streets of any city in Serbia, including Belgrade - said Stefanović.

The rally "7,000" was first registered by a group of NGOs for tomorrow, and then counter-rallies were registered by right-wing organizations, while Vojislav Šešelj called on his supporters to join the group of participants of the "7,000" rally, but with Chetnik symbols and flags.

The organizer of the "7000" action, journalist Dušan Mašić, said that the decision to ban all gatherings in Belgrade, announced as part of the commemoration of the anniversary of the genocide in Srebrenica, best shows where Serbia is in 2015. Seven Thousand states that they have not received an official decision to ban the rally.
