Police upset citizens due to filming of scenes for movie about the Siege of Sarajevo

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - In the Sarajevo neighborhood of Pofalići, on the main road in the morning hours, traffic was stopped several times due to the filming of scenes for the movie "Compassion for the Devil", which is based on true events during the siege of Sarajevo. 

Sarajevo police stopped traffic, as well as citizens who wanted to cross from one side of the road to the other. Citizens were confused and upset because they did not know what was happening, and were only told to get off the street and not cross under any circumstances. 

A photojournalist from the Patria agency managed to capture the scene being filmed, which involved a reporter's car moving at high speed. The car came from the direction of the Holiday Hotel and made a U-turn in Pofalići. The scene was repeated three times in one hour. 

Incidentally, filming of the movie by Canadian director Guillaume de Fontena began a few days ago, and the film is inspired by true events and based on the autobiography of French journalist Paul Marchand, who reported from besieged Sarajevo during 1992 and 1993.

The plot of the film takes place in wartime Sarajevo, and given that the "Jezero" hospital is one of the significant visual symbols of the suffering of Sarajevo and its citizens, it is planned that the hospital will be authentically depicted in this film.

Filming will last until mid-March at several locations in Sarajevo.

The main roles in the film are played by Niels Schneider, Ella Rumpf, and Vincent Rottiers.

The film "Compassion for the Devil" is a co-production of Monkey Pack Film from France, Go Films from Canada, Nexus Factory from Belgium, and the Bosnian-Herzegovinian production company SCCA/pro.ba.
