Police arrested the attacker of Memišević couple, criminal investigation underway

(Patria) - Višegrad police arrested a person with initials B.P. from this town, suspected of committing robbery against persons M.A. and M.F. from the village of Omeragići near Višegrad, it was announced from the Police Administration in Foča.

A criminal investigation is underway on person B.P., who may be linked to the commission of the mentioned criminal offense, and certain criminal investigation measures and actions are being carried out on them to document and shed light on the robbery, the statement said.

The Mayor of Višegrad Municipality, Mladen Đurević, earlier today condemned the attack on returnees Fadil and Ajša Memišević from the village of Omeragići. Fadil and Ajša sustained serious bodily injuries and have been admitted for further treatment at the University Clinical Center Sarajevo (KCUS).

Numerous officials and political parties, as well as the OHR, have issued statements during the day, condemning the attack and violence against returnees in Višegrad. 

The Memišević couple returned to the village of Omeragići 22 years ago, and the attacker robbed and beat them. 

Family members found them in the house because they could not contact them. The attack occurred on Thursday, the first day of Eid al-Adha.

 

"Police officers of the Višegrad Police Station arrested B.P. last night around 11:30 PM and are taking all measures and actions under the supervision of the duty prosecutor of the District Public Prosecutor's Office of East Sarajevo," the statement reads.

 

The Mayor of Višegrad Municipality, Mladen Đurević, earlier today condemned the attack on returnees Fadil and Ajša Memišević from the village of Omeragići, who were attacked and beaten by an unknown person, and expressed hope that the competent authorities will shed light on this case as soon as possible.

 

The brutal attack on the two elderly returnees was also condemned by political parties with headquarters in Sarajevo.

 

Let us remind you, the two elderly individuals who sustained serious bodily injuries were found by a group of Bosniak returnees who visit Višegrad on weekends.

 

The attacker who beat and robbed Fadil and Ajša, who are in their eighties, was masked.
