(Patria) - Belgian police have arrested four people suspected of planning an attack on a concert hall in Brussels, the federal prosecutor's office said today.
The arrested adult has been charged with "participation in the activities of a terrorist group" with the aim of carrying out an attack. Three minors were also arrested.
"According to initial findings of the investigation, it appears that a concert hall in Brussels was the target, and the attack was planned for several weeks," it was said, without providing further details.
Belgium has been shaken by extremist attacks in recent years. The most recent occurred a few months ago when two Swedish football fans were killed in Brussels, the Associated Press reports.
A jury last year found six people guilty of the horrific terrorist attack at Brussels airport and a metro station in 2016, in which 32 people were killed.
Among those convicted for their role in that attack was Salah Abdeslam. He is the man already serving a life sentence without the possibility of parole in France for his role in the attacks on Parisian cafes, the Bataclan concert hall, and the French national stadium.
The attacks in Paris and Brussels were linked to the same ISIL network.
