Police arrest man in Titova Street, tourists watch his removal in confusion

Sarajevo police today carried out a spectacular arrest of a man in Titova, the busiest street in Sarajevo, who had been evading a prison sentence for some time, causing confusion among hundreds of tourists who were at the scene, a reporter for the Bosnian news agency Patria (NAP) reported.

As witnesses confirmed, two court police officers approached the man, who was dressed in work clothes, handcuffed him, and then rushed down Titova Street with him.

- It was an unusual situation. In Titova Street you can see all sorts of wonders, but a man in handcuffs escorted by police is not seen every day – said one witness.

The Judicial Police of the Federation of BiH confirmed to NAP that their officers today around 12:00 in the area of the Centar Municipality found and deprived of liberty a person with the initials V. R., who had been sought for some time to serve a prison sentence. However, until today, this man had skillfully hidden from the law.

- The named person was deprived of liberty based on an order from the Municipal Court in Sarajevo. After processing by officers of the Judicial Police Department of the Sarajevo Canton courts, he will be handed over to the Sarajevo Correctional Facility to serve a prison sentence of four months – stated the Judicial Police of the FBiH. It was not stated for which offenses this man must serve a prison sentence.

- This is a person who was previously sought based on other orders from judicial institutions – the police further stated, NAP writes.
