Police called to Dr. Gavrankapetanović's office, Commission illegally inventories private items

Police were called to the Orthopedics and Traumatology Clinic of the University Clinical Center Sarajevo (KCUS) today after the Commission for the handover of duties continued to inventory items and conduct an inventory of found items and objects in the office of Prof. Dr. Ismet Gavrankapetanović after he was removed from the head of the Clinic, reports the Patria agency.

The lawyer of Dr. Gavrankapetanović, Senad Pećanin, also warned about this entire process, stating that the Commission is acting illegally and called the police.

He said that the Commission also inventoried the multi-year private and professional correspondence of Dr. Gavrankapetanović with colleagues from around the world, which represents an illegal act of violence. Despite the warning, the Commission continued its work, but the police intervened today.

It was previously established that no item belonging to the Clinical Center was missing from Professor Gavrankapetanović's office, in accordance with the last inventory list. Therefore, there is no need to inventory private items.

The General Director of KCUS, Dr. Sebija Izetbegović, abruptly dismissed the leading European orthopedist Dr. Ismet Gavrankapetanović from the position of head of the Orthopedics and Traumatology Clinic of KCUS a few days ago.
The management of the largest healthcare institution in the country did not provide an explanation for this dismissal, which sparked sharp reactions from orthopedists and organizations across Europe.

Many called the dismissal a political decision, which is devastating for the medical profession and takes Bosnia and Herzegovina a century backward. Some doctors and other medical staff who in any way supported Dr. Gavrankapetanović and opposed his dismissal have been transferred to other departments or blackmailed in other ways, and have also been reported to the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office. Dr. Hasan Tanović warned about the obvious mobbing and pressure faced by doctors of this Clinic in recent days in his morning press release.
