A large number of police officers, members of the gendarmerie and the Anti-Terrorist Unit are in the center of Belgrade due to the announced fan protest. Strong police forces guarded the Turkish embassy, however since the protest did not take place, police officers are slowly dispersing, write Belgrade media, reports Patria.
Fan protests were announced following the murder of Red Star fan Marko Ivković in Istanbul.
Although it was announced that Red Star fans and other fan groups would come in front of the Turkish Embassy in Krunska Street to protest the murder of Ivković, several dozen people quickly dispersed.
The protest, according to reports from Belgrade media, was supposed to be held at noon, so security forces have been securing state institutions and embassies in the city center since this morning.
