Police trying to cover up attack on editor and journalist of portal tacno.net

Criminal charges have been filed against the police commissioner of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton Ilija Lasić, and against Marin Kordić, Josip Čuljak and Antonio Vrljić, the attackers of Štefica Galić and Amer Bahtijar, the editor and journalist of the portal tacno.net, reports the news agency Patria.

-It is obvious that the competent police services in Mostar, led by police commissioner Ilija Lasić, are doing everything to cover up the attack on the editor and journalist of the portal tacno.net. Instead of the police filing criminal charges against the attackers with the competent prosecutor's office, Commissioner Lasić initiated misdemeanor proceedings against the attacked journalist Bahtijar and only one attacker.

The second attacker was fined only for false representation, while the third attacker, Antonio Vrljić, an employee of the Ministry of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina, has already been amnestied by the police and turned into a witness of the attack. It is also symptomatic that the police still have not sent a summons for the hearing of witness Štefica Galić.

It is obvious that cursing of a “Bosniak mother”, insults on ethnic grounds and threats to journalists that they will “end up like professor Slavo Kukić”, who was brutally beaten in his university office, are merely a reason for the Mostar police to protect the attackers, not the victims”- said the lawyer of the editor and journalist of the portal tacno.net Senad Pećanin.
