Police demands stricter sanctions for traffic violations from the Ministry of Transport

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Republika Srpska has ordered stricter traffic controls. Police will particularly not tolerate speeding and driving under the influence of alcohol. These two factors are the main cause of serious traffic accidents in Republika Srpska, Patria reports.

In the first five months of this year, 3,533 traffic accidents occurred in the BiH entity of Republika Srpska, in which 55 people were killed, 211 were seriously injured, and 987 were slightly injured. In the observed period, the most common causes of traffic accidents were inappropriate vehicle speed (in 25.4 percent of traffic accidents), and the highest number of fatalities in traffic accidents was recorded on Saturdays (23.6 percent).

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Republika Srpska has submitted a proposal to the Ministry of Transport and Communications of BiH to drastically increase sanctions for violations in the amendments to the Law on Road Traffic Safety in BiH, Patria reports.
