Police monitor hate speech on Facebook, not criminals posing with guns

The killer of Mirza Raščić (26) from Sarajevo, Izudin Tahirović, posted pictures of himself with a weapon on his Facebook profile less than three months before he killed Raščić, writes the BiH news agency Patria.

It is surprising that police agencies in BiH do not monitor the Facebook profiles of criminals and those who are "known to the police from before", at a time when they boast of having experts who regularly monitor hate speech and incitement to go to foreign battlefields on social networks.

The State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) and the Federal Police Administration claim that they monitor messages containing hate speech, incitement to terrorism, and national intolerance on social networks and websites daily.

Why wouldn't police agencies also monitor the Facebook profiles of criminals?!

Killer Tahirović was known to the police from before. He was arrested in December 2009 together with Sanjin Handžić in whose apartment a kilogram of marijuana, 60 grams of speed, 50 ecstasy tablets, about 10,000 marks, four mobile phones, and three radio transceivers were found.

At that time, Tahirović was found with five packets of marijuana prepared for street sale and a semi-automatic rifle.

Tahirović continued to boast about weapons on his Facebook profile, but this did not prompt any police agency in BiH to apprehend Tahirović and sanction him.

On Thursday evening, around 7:10 PM, Tahirović shot Raščić in the premises of the Football Club Željezničar Fan Association at the Grbavica stadium, after which the young man died.
