Anti-terror bollards on the most expensive sidewalk in BiH are broken

SARAJEVO, (Patria) – Eleven anti-terror bollards installed in front of the ceremonial entrance to the BiH Presidency building have not been working for a long time.
The renovation of the sidewalk in front of the state Presidency building, opened at the end of November 2016, cost BiH taxpayers more than 360,000 KM, including 11 bollards that cost 65,450 KM.

According to available information, the bollards broke down last year during the winter period, and have not been raised since.

“The retractable bollards are currently not functional, and activities have been undertaken to repair and put them into operation,” the BiH Presidency told the Patria agency.

The Centar Municipality, which co-financed the installation of the sidewalk and bollards, is not responsible for repairing the bollards; that is the responsibility of the BiH Presidency services.

Anti-terror bollards are used in front of police and military facilities, embassies, or important institutions.

Given that there are no curbs in that part in front of the Presidency, the retractable bollards were also used as protection in case of a traffic accident, as the Presidency is located next to the main Sarajevo thoroughfare.
