Action Launched to Collect Photos and Items of Srebrenica Genocide Victims

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Srebrenica-Potočari Memorial Center recently launched an initiative to collect items belonging to victims of the genocide, or survivors who resided in Srebrenica between 1992 and 1995.

The association of citizens “Women of Srebrenica“, which gathers families of genocide victims, yesterday donated approximately 2,000 photographs of murdered genocide victims to the Srebrenica-Potočari Memorial Center for permanent safekeeping. Members of the association have been collecting photographs for years in an effort to preserve the identity and memory of the victims.

"During the next week, the Srebrenica-Potočari Memorial Center will take over the photographs of genocide victims held in the archives of the association „Movement of Mothers of the Enclaves of Srebrenica and Žepa“. On this occasion, we once again call on associations and families of genocide victims who possess photographs or items of their loved ones to donate them to the Srebrenica-Potočari Memorial Center for permanent safekeeping. Photographs can be donated in person, in digital form by sending them to the official email address of the Memorial Center ([email protected]), or handed over to one of the registered associations in Tuzla and Sarajevo.

Although the genocide against Bosniaks in Srebrenica is a judicially proven and irrefutable fact, we are witnessing that this means nothing to genocide deniers. With lies and deception, they try to distort the historically established facts about the genocide committed against Bosniaks in the middle Podrinje. We had the opportunity to see this recently. Therefore, the Srebrenica-Potočari Memorial Center, as an institution founded with the aim of preserving the memory of the genocide victims, calls on all associations and all family members of the murdered victims to participate in the projects initiated by the Memorial Center in the last month. There is only one goal: to resist genocide deniers and followers of war criminals with truth, facts, and evidence, and to ensure that Srebrenica never happens again to anyone, ever again," stated the Srebrenica-Potočari Memorial Center.
