University massacre in Pakistan: At least 30 people killed

10:00 A Pakistani army representative stated that the battles with the terrorists have ended and that gunfire can no longer be heard on campus. Multiple attackers stormed Bacha Khan University in Charasadda in northwestern Pakistan. According to the latest data, as reported by RT, at least 30 people have been killed in the attack so far, including a professor and a student, and 50 have been wounded. BBC reports that four attackers have been killed. Two were killed in the initial clashes, and later two more were killed by a sniper on the university roof.

08:00 Gunshots were heard at Bacha Khan University in northwestern Pakistan, while one journalist also reported explosions. 21 people have been killed, and around 30 others wounded, CNN reports, as carried by Patria.

Unidentified armed attackers stormed the university, killing at least 21 people and wounding more than 30, hospitals and police have announced.

The army confirmed that security forces arrived at Bacha Khan University in Sharsada, a town about fifty kilometers from Peshawar, in an area where armed extremist groups flourish.

The death toll quickly rose. Security forces killed four attackers, and the remaining attackers were cornered by security forces in two blocks of the university. 

The university is closed, said Nasir Durrani, police chief of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, whose capital is Peshawar.

Police deployed armored vehicles.

AFP reports that police stated the death toll has risen to 21. Most of the victims are students. Security forces have completed the operation against the attackers and are now clearing the area.
