Take a look at the Priests' Home to which the SDP-led Government gave over 800,000 KM for loan installments

Priests moved into the Priests' Home of the Vrhbosna Archdiocese in Sarajevo in May 2011, and before that they lived in the Theology building. The home, with garage space, covers about 6,000 square meters, and contains 24 apartments for accommodation with accompanying facilities and a multipurpose space, writes Index.hr, as reported by the Bosnian news agency Patria.

The home serves priests who have ended their service due to retirement or illness, so each receives their own apartment of 50 square meters, which includes a study and bedroom, bathroom, tea kitchen, and balcony. They are also provided with food, medical care, and spiritual and recreational space.

They generate income by renting out the garage, which is part of the Home in the very center of Sarajevo, and business premises, which they use, as they state, for the maintenance of the home. They have 89 parking spaces at their disposal.

"By renting out garage spaces, we aim to ensure the self-sustainability of the facility," it says on the website. They own four business premises of 50 m2 each and one unique space of 350 m2. "Each business premise is air-conditioned, has its own toilet, tea kitchen, cable TV, telephone and internet connection," is the description of the business premises.

According to information published on the home's website, construction began in 2008, following a lawsuit and court process in which the home allegedly fought a battle with the former landowner.

Vrhbosna Archbishop Cardinal Vinko Puljić blessed the home during its opening in 2010, which was built with financial support from Croatia and was intended to permanently solve the problem of care for retired priests, the Croatian News Agency wrote at the time.

The ceremonial opening was also attended by the President of the Croatian Bishops' Conference (HBK), Monsignor Marin Srakić, and the envoy of the Croatian Government was the Minister of Science and Education Radovan Fuchs, accompanied by representatives of HBOR, Ante Kovačević and associates.

Cardinal Puljić then expressed special gratitude to the Croatian government because it approved the Vrhbosna Archdiocese to take out the loan needed for construction from the Croatian Bank for Reconstruction and Development (HBOR).

During the blessing of the Home, Cardinal Puljić asked HBOR for patience in repaying the debt and expressed hope that the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina would at least help with the construction of the Priests' Home by forgiving half of the amount to be paid for VAT.

"Thanking first of all dear God, who gave his blessing in the preparation and construction, he expressed gratitude to the diocesan clergy who understood the importance of this project. Special thanks for the help were expressed to the Government of the Republic of Croatia, which approved the Vrhbosna Archdiocese to take out a loan from HBOR, and he presented a certificate of appreciation to the Government envoy Dr. Radovan Fuchs, Minister of Science, Education and Sports," states the Catholic Weekly, which published a text about the opening of the Home.

Minister Fuchs also addressed those present, who, conveying greetings from the Croatian Government, emphasized the importance of the Catholic Church for the Croatian people throughout history and today, saying that Croatia will continue to support projects of the Catholic Church in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The SDP-led Government gave this home 3.2 million kuna (just over 800,000 KM).
