Reminder: The Greater Serbian aggression against Bosnia and Herzegovina began with the attack on Ravno on October 1, 1991

The first attack by the aggressor JNA on the territory of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina occurred on October 1, 1991. Units of the former JNA and reservists from Montenegro attacked, looted, burned and razed to the ground the villages of Hrasno and Ravno in southern Herzegovina, reports the Patria news agency.

The villages were predominantly inhabited by the Croatian population. The attack on these villages was the first armed attack by the JNA on the territory of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which was then treated as part of the strategic plan for the occupation of Dubrovnik.

After the destruction of these villages, due to the political disorganization of Bosnian-Herzegovinian politicians, as well as military unpreparedness and disorganization, there were incorrect statements by some politicians, which sowed discord and misunderstandings at the political top of the then SR BiH. 

Through the propaganda activities of the JNA, one could even hear statements by some journalists that Ravno and Hrasno were not even located in BiH.

The total JNA forces, from Prevlaka to the Neretva Valley, consisted of between 11,000 and 13,000 soldiers from the Užice, Podgorica and Mostar corps, and members of the 9th Naval Sector Boka, with significant air support, and more than 120 heavy artillery pieces, about 100 tanks and 50 armored personnel carriers.
