Support for the Association of Parents of Killed Children of Besieged Sarajevo

President of the Association of Parents of Killed Children of Besieged Sarajevo 1992-1995, Fikret Grabovica, signed a protocol in the Municipality of Centar regarding the allocation of funds in the amount of 3,000 KM, which the Municipality set aside for the Association to implement planned annual activities. On behalf of the Municipality of Centar, the protocol was signed by Mayor Dževad Bećirević, reports the Patria news agency.

Fikret Grabovica thanked for the overall support that the Municipality of Centar provides to the Association of Parents of Killed Children of Besieged Sarajevo 1992-1995.

-Without the support of this local community, we would not be able to carry out our activities to the planned extent. In addition to this assistance, our association receives funds from the budget of the Municipality of Centar every year for the implementation of the project 'Aid to War Victims - Emergency Material and Medical Assistance'. This is a project to help our most vulnerable members - said Grabovica.

One of the projects implemented by this association is the installation of memorial plaques at sites where the most severe war crimes against the civilian population were committed. In the Sarajevo Canton, 32 plaques have been placed at locations where citizens were killed and where three or more children died. The City of Sarajevo and the cantonal government installed memorial plaques at 15 locations, while the Association of Parents installed them at 17 locations, where the anniversaries of the suffering of our fellow citizens, especially the youngest, are commemorated with dignity.

Most of the marked sites are located in the area of four city municipalities: Centar, Stari Grad, Novo Sarajevo and Novi Grad. In the municipality of Ilidža, plaques have been placed at several locations, and in the municipality of Vogošća at one location. According to current knowledge, there are about 400 locations in Sarajevo where children were killed.

Today's signing of the protocol was also attended by Zakira Šero, Assistant Mayor of the Municipality of Centar for Education, Culture and Sports, it was announced from the Municipality of Centar.
