The Prosecutor's Office of BiH has filed an indictment in the operation codenamed Papirus for identity theft and the creation of false CIPS documents.
The accused Bojan Raonić (born 1983) is accused of participating in obtaining CIPS personal documents with falsified data, which were sold to individuals from the criminal milieu in BiH and neighboring countries, and of committing the criminal offenses of organized crime, document forgery, and certification of untrue content.
A prosecutor from the Special Department for Organized Crime, Economic Crime, and Corruption of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH has filed an indictment, charging:
- Bojan Raonić, born January 29, 1983, in Zvornik, a citizen of BiH, is in custody.
The accused is charged with becoming part of an organized criminal group, composed of several individuals, who, by committing criminal offenses, forgery, and certification of untrue content, carried out illegal registration of residence for individuals in BiH, using false data belonging to other persons, and subsequently obtained CIPS personal documents, including identity cards and travel documents within the IDDEA CIPS system, with the data and identity of other persons.
By committing criminal offenses, the accused obtained illegal financial gain and caused harm to the security of BiH citizens. The mentioned documents were sold for amounts reaching up to 6,000 euros to individuals from the criminal milieu from Serbia and, in one case, Bulgaria, who committed criminal offenses and in whose possession BiH personal documents with false data were found, which complicated their prosecution and caused great damage to the reputation of Bosnia and Herzegovina in international judicial, police, and security structures.
A detailed and lengthy investigation conducted by the Prosecutor's Office of BiH with partner police and security agencies uncovered this highly sophisticated form of crime, which harms the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the security of its citizens. The investigation gathered data indicating that the accused Raonić was involved in illegal activities related to obtaining BiH documents with falsified data in at least 5 individual cases in Mostar and several locations in the Sarajevo Canton.
The accused is charged with committing the criminal offense of organized crime, document forgery, and certification of untrue content.
The Prosecutor's Office of BiH will prove the guilt of the accused by calling more than 70 witnesses and submitting approximately 140 pieces of evidence.
The operation codenamed "Papirus" represents a decisive activity by the judiciary and police in combating sophisticated forms of crime with international elements, in order to protect the personal document system of the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
