The Cantonal Prosecutor's Office of Sarajevo Canton has filed an indictment against Samir Kurtović, Melisa Šehović, Nemanja Janković, and Omer Nargalić. The suspects are charged with several criminal offenses, namely: inducing prostitution of adult and minor female persons, money laundering, attempted rape, minor bodily injury, illegal acquisition, possession, and carrying of weapons and ammunition of Sarajevo Canton, and failure to report a criminal offense or perpetrator, reports the Patria News Agency.
Namely, the suspect Samir Kurtović is accused of organizing and managing prostitution in the area of KS from 2004 to October 2015. During this period, more than 28 (twenty-eight) girls, at least two of whom were minors, provided sexual services within his organization.
Thus, he acquired an illegal property benefit in the amount of at least KM 1,793,000.00. Furthermore, from 2009 until the end of 2015, he channeled the money thus acquired into legal financial flows, both through investment in the development of livestock and in other ways, thereby changing the form of illegally acquired property and converting dirty money into laundered money, thus committing the criminal offense of money laundering. At the same time, he is suspected of committing the criminal offense of attempted rape on 12/29/2006 to the detriment of the then minor S.B., when the victim was 16 (sixteen) years old, and causing her minor bodily injury. On two occasions, live ammunition and weapons for which he did not have a permit from the competent authority were found in the possession of the suspect.
The suspect Melisa Šehović is accused of, in agreement with Samir Kurtović and with the girls providing sexual services, participating with Samir in organizing and managing the provision of sexual services in the Sarajevo Canton area from 2014 to October 2015. Nemanja Janković is accused of, as a police officer employed at the Ilidža Police Station, becoming aware during his duty that Samir Kurtović was organizing and managing prostitution, and failing to report the criminal offense and perpetrator, despite being obliged to do so. Instead, he contacted Samir Kurtović by phone and ordered two girls for himself and his friend to provide sexual services, which he then used. The services were paid for with 350.00 KM.
The suspect Omer Nargalić is accused of acquiring, possessing, and carrying weapons and ammunition without a permit from the competent authority.
The indictment proposes that the suspect Samir Kurtović:
- have the property benefit acquired through the committed criminal offenses confiscated, as well as the passenger motor vehicle purchased with money obtained from organizing prostitution and used for committing criminal offenses;
- 350 (three hundred and fifty) material and 90 (ninety) corroborating pieces of evidence are proposed, and 54 (fifty-four) records of interrogations of suspects and witnesses have been submitted to the court
- the extension of pre-trial detention for the suspect Samir Kurtović has been proposed.
