Indictment filed against Lovrenović: Tortured and killed prisoners

The Prosecutor of the Special Department for War Crimes of the BiH Prosecutor's Office has filed an indictment against Lovrenović Jozo, born on 03.11.1969 in Seoci, Jajce municipality, residing in Jajce, a citizen of BiH and Croatia, it was announced from the BiH Prosecutor's Office, Patria reports.

The accused is charged that during the state of war and armed conflict between members of the TO Jajce and HVO on one side and members of the VRS on the other side, as a member of the HVO military police, in the Barevo area in the Liskovac village region, on the administrative-territorial border between Jajce and Mrkonjić Grada municipalities, acted contrary to the rules of the Geneva Convention on the Treatment of Prisoners of War.

According to the indictment, the accused and members of the HVO military police known to him captured a group of active and reserve police officers of the SJB Mrkonjić Grada in the hamlet of Šebezi, and then the accused, while the captured group was being escorted in a column, approached one prisoner, insulted him, and hit him with the butt of his rifle, after which he deprived him of his life.

The accused approached another prisoner who was at the end of the mentioned column, and after a brief argument with the prisoner, deprived him of his life by shooting him with an automatic rifle.

The accused is charged that in the period from June to August 1992, together with members of the HVO Jajce military police, he brought groups of captured active and reserve police officers, members of the SJB Mrkonjić Grada, members of the VRS, to the premises of the SJB Jajce, and during the interrogation of the prisoners, on several occasions tortured them, physically and psychologically abused them, hitting them with their feet, hands, police and improvised batons, cables, hanging them on a hanger to pull out their teeth, and extinguishing cigarettes on the prisoners' entire bodies, inflicting severe physical pain on them.
