Indictment filed against Edo Čolaković for tax evasion

Prosecutor of the Second Department of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH filed an indictment against Edo Čolaković, born 08/04/1984 in Čapljina, residing in Sarajevo, previously convicted, a citizen of BiH for tax evasion, reports the BiH news agency Patria.

The accused is charged with, as the founder, director, and responsible person of the legal entity “KING BH” d.o.o. Mostar, in order to avoid paying value added tax, selling cigarettes to buyers known to him on the black market, without recording them in the legal entity's business books, and preparing invoices and cash receipts for the sale of goods to alleged buyers at a reduced price, i.e., a reduced tax base for VAT, who did not actually purchase or take delivery of the goods.

According to the indictment, the accused, in the period from 2008 to 2009, calculated, reported, and paid a lower amount of value added tax obligations and damaged the budget of BiH in the amount of over 41,927.00 KM.

The accused is charged with committing the extended criminal offense of tax evasion from Article 210, Paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code of BiH. The indictment has been forwarded to the Court of BiH for confirmation.

Čolaković had problems with the law before, and on October 21, 2013, the Court of BiH issued a verdict by which the accused Edo Čolaković and the legal entity “King BH” d.o.o. Mostar were found guilty of the criminal offense of organized crime in connection with the criminal offense of tax evasion. In this regard, the Court imposed a suspended sentence on the accused Edo Čolaković, determining a prison sentence of two years, which will not be executed if the accused does not commit a new criminal offense within four years from the date the verdict becomes final. Regarding the legal entity “KING BH” d.o.o. Mostar, the Court imposed a penalty of termination of the legal entity.
