(Patria) - The Cantonal Prosecutor's Office of Tuzla Canton has filed an indictment against Ahmed Kastrati (28), residing in Tuzla, due to well-founded suspicion that he committed the criminal offense of murder, in connection with the event of June 21, 2025, at 1:40 AM in a catering facility in Tuzla, when he inflicted injuries on Saša Vilušić from Tuzla that led to the victim's death on July 10, 2025. The indictment has been submitted to the Cantonal Court in Tuzla for confirmation.
In the indictment, the acting prosecutor has also submitted a proposal to the Cantonal Court in Tuzla to impose pre-trial detention on Kastrati after the confirmation of the indictment, due to well-founded suspicion that he committed the criminal offense of murder, and due to special reasons prescribed in Article 146, Paragraph 1, points c and d of the Law on Criminal Procedure of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Specifically, this concerns an accused person for whom there are particular circumstances that, if released, they might commit the same criminal offense, as they have previously shown a tendency towards violent behavior and physical assaults on other persons, and another investigation is open against them in this Prosecutor's Office for the criminal offense of grievous bodily harm. This is a particularly serious criminal offense committed under extraordinary circumstances, in a facility where several people were present and where a large number of guests constantly stay, and the public has been disturbed considering all the circumstances related to this event.
There is well-founded suspicion that Kastrati, after a brief verbal and physical altercation between the victim Vilušić and A.O. in the catering facility, in which Kastrati did not participate, approached Vilušić from behind and, by surprise – as the victim did not expect the attack, knowing that as a practitioner of the martial art of kickboxing he was capable of delivering particularly devastating punches, and aware that such a blow aimed at the head, a vital part of the body, could kill another person by causing loss of consciousness and an uncontrolled fall – agreed to this, stood up from his table, and approached Vilušić from behind, from his left side, when the victim did not have him in sight, and suddenly, without any prior cause and unprovoked, by pulling Vilušić's shoulder, turned him towards himself to deliver an exceptionally strong swing with his closed left fist, a practiced kickboxing blow to the area of the left eye. From this blow, Vilušić instantly lost consciousness, fell backward onto the floor of the facility, and due to the force of the blow, primarily sustained an injury in the form of a fracture of the outer and posterior wall of the eye, and then, due to the uncontrolled fall and impact with the ground, multiple brain injuries, which ultimately led to the victim's death on July 10, 2025, in a direct cause-and-effect relationship.
We remind you that the Panel of the Cantonal Court in Tuzla, by its decision of September 9, 2025, rejected the proposal of this Prosecutor's Office to extend the pre-trial detention for the suspect Kastrati during the investigation and that the suspect be immediately released.
After the suspect was released from the pre-trial detention unit of the Penitentiary in Orašje on the morning of September 10, acting on the Prosecutor's order, members of the Criminal Police Sector of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tuzla Canton apprehended Kastrati, after which he was handed over to the jurisdiction of the Prosecutor's Office, interrogated, and the indictment was filed, submitted for confirmation to the competent court, and pre-trial detention was proposed for Kastrati.
