Reconstruction of Crnaja Tunnel Begins: Full Traffic Halt Period Announced

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Reconstruction works on the Crnaja Tunnel begin tomorrow, which will result in a modified traffic regime on this section of the Sarajevo-Mostar main road.

The public company Ceste Federacije BiH d.o.o. Sarajevo previously explained that during the works, traffic through the Crnaja Tunnel will alternate, one lane at a time, using traffic lights. A complete traffic halt is planned between 11 PM and 5 AM, with the exception of emergency and police vehicles.

They emphasize that, according to traffic simulations conducted so far, maximum delays will be limited to 15 minutes. To speed up construction, works will be carried out continuously for 24 hours.

During the period of 1.06. – 30.9., works will be suspended, and traffic will flow in both lanes without restrictions.

BIHAMK cameras have been installed on both sides of the Crnaja Tunnel, which should facilitate traffic flow.

The planned deadline for the completion of the Crnaja Tunnel renovation is June 2022. It has been concluded that Ceste FBiH will monitor daily, and the Federal Administration for Inspection Affairs will continuously conduct inspection supervision over the reconstruction works, all in order to ensure safe traffic flow and maintain the approved traffic regime.
