Humanitarian Festival of Balkan Art Begins

"Spiritus Progenitum IV" humanitarian festival of Balkan art will open to the public on December 23, 2016, at 6:00 PM at the Historical Museum of Sarajevo and will last for seven days (until December 30, 2016).

The festival is designed and created for all citizens who support and enjoy visual and literary art. The theme is "Humanity of the Modern Age," which means that every freelance artist can express their stance and opinion on contemporary humanity through their performance" – stated representatives of the coordinating body.

The festival is organized by the art society "VAL," the Historical Museum of BiH, and SOS Children's Villages BiH, and is supported by the Sarajevo Strip Academy. The theme of this year's festival is humanism in the modern age.

Freelance artists from the region, whom the organizers cordially invite to present their works and visit the festival, will have the opportunity to interpret their performances, whether visual, literary, or poetic.

On Saturday, December 24, a formal presentation of certificates for basic visual art knowledge will be held for the children of Sarajevo.

The certificates for children will be awarded based on a seven-day visual art workshop organized by the art society "Val" in May of this year. The workshop was held as part of the project "Motifs of the Balkans," whose mission is to preserve regional culture and build creativity in young people and children. 

The artists who educated the children of Sarajevo this year as part of the "Motifs of the Balkans" workshop are: Rebeka Abdagić, Midhat Fetahagić, Kemal Hodžić, Zoran Herceg, Elma Čaušević Mujezinović, and Ana Dominik Rodić. The work of a special guest, artist Selma Dević, will also be presented.

On this occasion, you will be able to see illustrations of poems by BiH poets Elvira Halvadžija, Goran Vrhunac, Mirza Okić, and Kenan Kundalić.
