Two-day session of the HJPC begins: On corruption, organized crime and acting chief prosecutor of the Sarajevo Canton

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The two-day session of the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council (HJPC) of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which begins today, will consider, among other things, the Report of the Standing Commission for the Efficiency of Prosecutor's Offices on activities undertaken based on the reports of the OSCE and USAID on the topic of corruption and organized crime.

Members of the HJPC will also consider the Draft Memorandum of Cooperation in the field of electronic acquisition of statistical data on corruption cases from the automatic case management system in courts and prosecutor's offices between the Agency for Prevention of Corruption and Coordination of the Fight against Corruption (APIK) and the HJPC.

Also on the agenda should be the Information on the signing of the Joint Declaration on War Crimes within the Berlin Process, as part of the Project "Improvement of Work on War Crimes Cases in BiH".

The HJPC should provide its opinion on the implementation of the Council's Work Program for 2018, as well as the Information on the proposal of activities formulated within the grant to the HJPC of BiH for IPA 2019, and the appointment of the first deputy/acting chief prosecutor of the Prosecutor's Office of the Sarajevo Canton, after the former chief prosecutor of that office, Dalida Burzić, was appointed to the position of judge of the Court of BiH.

The agenda will also include Information regarding the Council's conclusion, i.e., the Opinion on the possibilities for initiating proceedings to examine the constitutionality and legality of regulations adopted by legislative and executive bodies, for which the Council determines are contrary to the Law on the HJPC of BiH, consideration of the Supplemented Analysis on salaries and fees of judges and prosecutors in BiH, as well as the appointment of members to the Working Group for the restructuring of the Secretariat of the HJPC of BiH, and providing an opinion regarding a certain number of decisions on appointments, i.e., termination of mandates of holders of judicial functions in BiH.
