Distribution of purchased agricultural surpluses begins, first 35 tons of potatoes delivered to the 'Help them' association

(Patria) - The Ministry of Economy of Sarajevo Canton has completed all activities related to the third purchase of agricultural market surpluses in the past period, and today the distribution of the first quantities of purchased potatoes has begun.

The Minister of Economy of Sarajevo Canton, Adnan Delić, reminded that this is the third season of purchase, and that agricultural producers from the Ministry's incentive system reported market surpluses totaling 135 tons of potatoes, which the Ministry, through the KS Commodity Reserve Directorate, purchased at a price of one KM per kilogram. Minister Delić emphasized that the potatoes are being distributed according to the pre-expressed needs of associations and organizations that care for the most vulnerable categories of the population.

“Today we started the distribution, and traditionally the first delivery goes to the association 'Help them' (Pomozi.ba), which distributes the potatoes further according to its established methods. This year, the organization 'Help them' received 35 tons of potatoes purchased from our farmer from Dujmovići. The distribution will continue to other organizations that have previously expressed interest,” said Minister Delić, who, along with his colleagues from the Department for Professional Agricultural Affairs, attended the delivery to this association today.

Elvir Karalić, founder of the organization “Help them” (Pomozi.ba), confirmed that this is the third aid the organization has received from the Ministry of Economy of KS and stated that they are aware of how difficult it is to produce food, given that they themselves embarked on this endeavor this year.

“This is a significant donation for us, especially since we have also been sowing this year and we know how much effort it takes to produce food. We will distribute our donation by preparing some of the potatoes in our kitchens in the form of meals for the most endangered categories of the population, not only in Sarajevo Canton but also in our other kitchens across the country. We will distribute part of the donation directly to socially endangered families that we help on a monthly basis, and the rest will be distributed to smaller, our partner associations so that they can distribute it to their users,” said Karalić, founder of the association whose work and activities make our society better and more humane day by day.

The potatoes donated to the “Help them” (Pomozi.ba) association were purchased from the Krupalija agricultural farm in Dujmovići, and the owner, young Tarik Krupalija, once again reminded that this is a project they have been participating in for the third consecutive year.

“This is our third purchase, and we are satisfied. It was as they promised, and that is significant for us because we have the certainty that we will sell what we have produced. This also encourages us to increase production every year, which we are doing from season to season,” said Krupalija.

All purchased potatoes have undergone analyses, their quality has been tested, and they are safe for consumption. All findings are owned by the Ministry of Economy of Sarajevo Canton, which guarantees the safety of all products. Deliveries will continue in the coming days.
