Workers of construction companies Euro-Asfalt and ŽGP have started the construction of LOT 2c, the last section of the Sarajevo Bypass, which will connect the roundabout in Briješće with Safeta Zajke Street.
With the construction of this road, the municipality of Novi Grad will get another connection to Corridor 5-C after the roundabout in Briješće was built, which is the first connection to the corridor. Drivers from the direction of Boljakov Potok will have a direct and faster connection to the Stupska loop via the roundabout in Briješće, and traffic to and from Rajlovac will also be relieved.
The construction of LOT-2c will cost slightly more than 9.5 million convertible marks, and land expropriation around 4.2 million marks, meaning the project will cost around 14 million marks. The total length of LOT 2c is about 1.2 kilometers, and work is currently underway on the first section of the route for which the Municipality of Novi Grad has issued a building permit.
This is the first and most demanding part of the section, about 750 meters long, which will be built from the end of the Briješće viaduct, and includes a bridge structure (pergola) over the railway line.
- The contractor is working on replacing the foundation soil to a depth of one meter due to poor geomechanical characteristics, where an open section of the route is being built in an embankment that will be up to six meters high in some places - said Mirsad Dizadarević, project coordinator at JP Ceste Federacije BiH, which is the project implementer.
He also pointed out that the construction of the foundations for the pergola will begin very soon, and added that the land expropriation for this part of the route was carried out by the Municipality of Novi Grad and the Government of Sarajevo Canton.
It is planned that the works will be completed in five months, and in the meantime, work is being done to resolve the remaining property relations on the part where the connection to Safeta Zajke Street will be built, where a roundabout is planned.
This project, financed by the European Investment Bank and the OPEC Fund, will solve the issue of entering and exiting the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the best possible way.
