Dance Rhapsody in Sarajevo: 9th Dance Festival Gathers 2000 Dancers from Around the World

(Patria) - Sarajevo and Bosnia and Herzegovina will host over two thousand dancers this weekend who will dominate the stage at the 9th Sarajevo Dance Festival, which this year is held under the honorary patronage of the City of Sarajevo.
 
During the two festival days, the audience will witness the top artistic achievements of two thousand dancers through a spectacular program, which will include the National Championship in the combination of ten dances for couples, and the National Championship of BiH for solo dancers in Latin American dances, standard dances, and for groups and formations in Latin American dances and WDSF competition, and for the first time in history, a high-ranking WDSF tournament for solo dancers will be held.
 
The organizer of the 9th Sarajevo Dance Festival is the Sports Dance Club Astorija, and its director Mirza Geljo emphasizes that this is the largest edition of the festival to date, which will be held on November 12th and 13th at two locations: the Youth Center Skenderija and the Sports Hall 'Ramiz Salčin'.
 
"We are pleased that the City of Sarajevo has recognized the quality and tradition of the Sarajevo Dance Festival and supports such sports dance events, which gives us a boost to be even better in the further organization of the festival. On the dance floor, you will see couples of such quality as we have not seen in Sarajevo and Bosnia and Herzegovina for a long time. We have received entries from clubs from Croatia, BiH, Serbia, Slovenia, Austria, Latvia, North Macedonia, and that makes us happy and makes a difference between previous festivals and this year's. During the weekend, for the first time in history, a high-ranking WDSF tournament for solo dancers in the category of Latin American, standard, and modern dances will be organized. Those who win will be on the world rankings for solo dance the very next day. For us, such information is a motive and inspiration, and therefore we expect a fantastic SDF, organizationally much more demanding than what we have done so far," added the director of SPK Astorija and one of the main coaches, Mirza Geljo.
 
On the second day of the Festival, a tournament in the category of modern dances will be organized at the Youth Center Skenderija, with over a thousand participants, mostly from BiH and the countries of the region.

Competitors at the national championship of BiH will compete for the titles of national champions of BiH, which will secure them the right to participate in world and European championships.
 
"Next year, we are organizing the jubilee Sarajevo Dance Festival with a special emphasis on a larger number of participants so that Sarajevo and Bosnia and Herzegovina get a dance event that we deserve, at the highest level, side by side with other world tournaments," concluded Geljo.
