Plenković: Croatia would arrest Putin if he came to the country

(Patria) - If Russian President Vladimir Putin, for whom the International Criminal Court (ICC) has issued an arrest warrant, visited Croatia, he would be arrested in accordance with the procedures stipulated by law, Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković stated today in Brussels.

He reminds that Croatia has acceded to the Rome Statute of the ICC, and that a law on cooperation with this court has been passed.

- That law stipulates all procedures in case there is an arrest warrant for a person, and as far as I know, immunity does not apply there.

Therefore, the procedure would be exactly as stipulated by that law, and of course, both the Croatian police and the competent authorities would react - said Plenković, responding to a journalist's question about how Croatia would act in the event of Putin's visit to Croatia.

Plenković points out that such a visit is not realistic.

- I don't believe he will travel to countries that are parties to the Rome Statute anytime soon - added Plenković.
