Five Years of Existence: Superar from Srebrenica Holds Concert in Sarajevo

To mark its fifth anniversary, the music organization Superar, which operates in Srebrenica, will hold its first concert on April 7th at the Youth Theatre in Sarajevo, starting at 6 PM, reports the Patria News Agency.

As part of the program, the Superar Srebrenica children's choir and their guests will perform works in six languages, including pieces by some of the most famous composers, such as Beethoven and Mozart, as well as some of the unforgettable pop-rock classics by John Legend, Stevie Wonder, and traditional songs from Bosnia and Herzegovina and Austria.

After the concert, Berin Buturović with his accompanying band will perform at a formal reception. In January, they had the honor of representing our country at the first ball of the Vienna Boys Choir. Guests at the concert include students from the Music Studio “Maya Sar”, and Aida Mušanović, who will perform a couple of compositions together with the Superar Srebrenica children's choir.

With this concert, the Superar organization wishes to announce the opening of the Superar Sarajevo project and the launch of the first children's orchestra in BiH, which will begin its activities in September 2016.

The music organization Superar Srebrenica was founded in 2012 with the support of the organization „Bauern helfen Bauern”, and it provides over 350 children with the opportunity to experience the beauty of making music. Classes, which include playing instruments, singing in the choir, dancing, and learning foreign languages, are held daily. In its five years of existence, the choir has had a large number of notable performances and activities, such as the 2014 campaign “When Hearts Unite”, organized to help victims of major floods in the Balkans. The result was the song “Love People”, created in collaboration with 12 artists from 4 countries: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Croatia, and Macedonia. Through this campaign, they raised 20,000 KM, with which children's schools in the region were renovated. The children's choir performed for Pope Francis during his visit to Sarajevo in June last year, and at the conference for the integration of Balkan countries into the EU in Vienna, also in September last year.

The concert and gala evening are organized under the patronage of H.E. Martin Pammer, Ambassador of Austria to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ms. Doraja Eberle, President and Founder of the organization „Bauern helfen Bauern” and Superar Srebrenica, and Ćamil Duraković, Mayor of Srebrenica. The project was realized with the support of Elmedin Konaković, Prime Minister of Sarajevo Canton, Ćamil Duraković, Mayor of Srebrenica Municipality, and Milan Dunović, Vice President of the Federation of BiH.

This concert is held within the framework of the Bosnia and Herzegovina - Austria Culture Year 2016.
