(Patria) - The Wagner mercenary group is not participating in military operations in Ukraine in any significant way, the Pentagon announced, more than two weeks after the group organized a brief rebellion in Russia.
"At this stage, we do not see Wagner forces participating in any significant capacity in support of combat operations in Ukraine," said Pentagon spokesman, Brigadier General Patrick Ryder.
Wagner fighters led some of the fiercest and bloodiest battles during Russia's invasion of Ukraine, particularly in Bakhmut.
On Wednesday, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that Wagner is completing the handover of weapons to the regular armed forces of Russia.
