Pentagon: US warship and multiple commercial vessels attacked in the Red Sea

(Patria) - A US warship and multiple commercial vessels were attacked on Sunday in the Red Sea, according to the Pentagon, reports the Associated Press.

"We are aware of reports of attacks on the USS Carney and commercial vessels in the Red Sea and will provide information as soon as it becomes available," the Pentagon said.

The British military earlier reported suspected drone attacks and explosions in the Red Sea, without providing details.

The Pentagon did not identify where it believes the fire came from. However, Yemeni Houthi rebels are launching a series of attacks on vessels in the Red Sea. They are also launching drones and missiles targeting Israel as it wages war against Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
