Pendeš at NATO: BiH remains committed to Euro-Atlantic integration

BRUSSELS, (Patria) - Minister of Defence of BiH Marina Pendeš led the delegation of the Ministry of Defence and Armed Forces of BiH at the NATO ministerial meeting in the "Resolute Support" format, which was held today at NATO headquarters in Brussels. The meeting was attended by defence ministers of NATO member states and partner countries whose members participate in the peacekeeping mission in Afghanistan.

The ministerial meeting discussed the political and military situation in Afghanistan, with a special emphasis on negotiations for reconciliation of the conflicting parties and the recently held presidential elections in this country, with all participating countries agreeing that negotiations should be continued, a political agreement reached, confirming their commitment and dedication to supporting both the "Resolute Support" mission and Afghanistan as a whole.

In her address, Minister Pendeš emphasized BiH's commitment to joint efforts in ensuring international peace and security, the continuation of support for peacebuilding and long-term stability in Afghanistan, as well as that members of the AF BiH continue to participate in the "Resolute Support" mission, and at the end of her address, she once again reiterated BiH's firm commitment and dedication to joining the Euro-Atlantic community.

On the sidelines of the meeting, Minister Pendeš held meetings with several delegations, and had brief discussions with the defence ministers of Croatia, Austria, Slovakia and Montenegro, and the Minister of Defence of Germany, as well as with the Director General of the NATO International Military Staff, Lieutenant General Hans-Werner Wiermann.

In addition to Minister Pendeš, the delegation of the MoD and AF BiH included Assistant Minister of Defence for International Cooperation Zoran Šajinović, Head of the Military Part of the BiH Mission to NATO Brigadier Jasmin Čajić, Deputy Head of the Military Part of the BiH Mission to NATO Brigadier Velibor Purković, and Staff Officer in the Military Part of the BiH Mission to NATO Major Zvonimir Duvnjak.
