PDP presented evidence: Dodik and SNSD brought Republika Srpska closer to NATO, and now they say the opposite

The Party of Democratic Progress (PDP) announced today that SNSD's earlier actions brought Republika Srpska closer to the NATO alliance, but that this party is now speaking in a completely different direction, showing nervousness about it.

“Chairman of the House of Representatives of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly in 2005, Nikola Špirić, personally signed the BiH Law on Defense, and SNSD voted for it. Article 84 of the Law on Defense of BiH speaks about activities for NATO accession as follows: The Parliamentary Assembly, the Council of Ministers, the Presidency of BiH, and all defense entities, within their constitutional and legal jurisdiction, shall undertake the necessary activities for BiH's accession to NATO membership,” stated PDP, citing several other facts indicating that SNSD is the one that brought Republika Srpska closer to NATO:

Chairman of the Presidency of BiH, Nebojša Radmanović, signed the BiH's Partnership for Peace accession agreement in 2006 at a North Atlantic Council session in Brussels.

Chairman of the Presidency of BiH, Nebojša Radmanović, signed BiH's formal request for the Membership Action Plan (MAP) for NATO in 2009.

Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH, Nikola Špirić, signed documents in 2008 to intensify the dialogue between BiH and NATO. One of them, the “Initiative Document for Intensified Dialogue between BiH and NATO,” confirmed the strategic goal, which is “the soonest possible entry into full NATO membership.”

In accordance with these documents, Dušanka Majkić, a member of the BiH Parliament's Defense and Security Committee, who today speaks intensely to the contrary, participated in 2011 on behalf of BiH in a professional development program at NATO headquarters in Brussels.

The current advisor to the President of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, was appointed president of the Commission for NATO Integration Process and, based on these documents, openly and intensely advocated for BiH's entry into NATO as an official representative of BiH.

“All these documents were signed by SNSD officials based on a declaration adopted by this party, which defines NATO as a strategic goal,” PDP announced.

SNSD President Milorad Dodik criticized PDP and the former president of this party and current member of the BiH Presidency from the Serb people, Mladen Ivanić, for wanting to bring BiH into the NATO alliance. PDP responded today that it was precisely Dodik and SNSD who took steps in the past that brought RS closer to the NATO alliance, writes Patria.
