Several hundred demonstrators clashed with police in Paris today during protests against the announced labor law reform in France, authorities said, according to French media, reports NAP.
The clashes began at a time when global attention is focused on France, which is hosting the EURO 2016 championship, marred by physical altercations among fan groups.
The Eiffel Tower was closed due to the unrest in Paris, and some roads were blocked at a time when tens of thousands of fans are pouring into the country to attend the biggest football event.
Police arrested 6 people during the clashes, which are just the latest in a series of violent demonstrations since the protests against the law reform began in March.
Demonstrators, some of whom were hooded, broke into a construction site where they took wooden pallets, which they then threw at the special police, city officials said.
At least two people were injured in the clashes with the police, AFP reported.
Authorities have appealed to demonstrators to distance themselves from the rioters so that the police can intervene.
French police have their hands full these days, as besides labor protests, they are also facing violence from football hooligans, as well as an increased risk of terrorist threats during the European Championship.
